Japanese Input on MacOS X
Namely the Hiragana option... can someone tell me what the options (Kotoeri Preferences) are? I boggle helplessly.

And are the options/menu selections the same for Romanji and Hiragana?

I don't bother with anything but hiragana and katakana in the menu because the other stuff is confusing as oO;

Romanji... I dunno why that's an option. That's just a fancy name for "the english alphabet" so uh... but yeah.

Half-width katakana is katakana that's all smooshed up. Obviously. Romaji is, like I said, a fancy name for english, only apparently regular romaji is squished so you get an option for regular-text romaji.

Ainu is the typography of the native peoples of Japan (as in, the one that doesn't come from China in some form) who are, coincidentally, called the Ainu =D

Hiragana and Katakana are the only two I use, since it's so much simpler than dealing with that other stuff (and I don't need squished katakana anyway). Input is pretty simple; type out what you want and it starts with romaji and then goes to the character of your choice once you've got enough for it to make sense of it (example: typing s results in an S, adding an "a" gives you さ or サ depending on which you've got selected. HItting return sets your word/string "in stone"; hitting the space bar changes the word/the first bit of the word into any applicable kanji the computer can find to put there (as I know like... four or five characters of kanji at best, I tend to ignore this option until I forget to hit enter after a word/sentence =3;;

That made no sense and didn't answer your question. Yay! =D;;

o.O I thought one of the commands was to convert all previously typed romanji into hiragana/katakana/etc.? Maybe not. But I need to figure out why it insists on being stuck on Romanji and won't go back to the US flag (U.S.) and _stay_ there. Not like it matters, but... rrr? ::prods with a paw::

::nods:: have figured out how to input... it's just like the chinese input methods, more or less. I was hoping for a way to disable the having-to-hit-enter-to-set-word/string-in-stone part, 'cause that annoyed me a bit while I was trying to print the hiragana and katakana characters for my flashcards (I had originally handwritten them, but my handwriting's not-straight at best...

Happen to know any sites that have lyrics in hiragana and katakana, btw? It might be good practice for me, used as a quiz-type/practice thing to write the romanji underneath... (heh, would be even better if it had the romanji, so I could check myself later) (I suppose a site with romanji would work as well, so long as it's understandable romanji and not like... randomly guess english letters to the sound.)
