Lyrics:
No one sits with him, he doesn’t fit in
But we feel like we do when we make fun of him
'Cause you want to belong do you go along
'Cause his pain is the price paid for you to belong
It’s not like you hate him or want him to die
But maybe he goes home and thinks suicide
Or he comes back to school with a gun at his side
And kindness from you might have saved his life

Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what’s right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero
You could join the fight
For what’s right for what’s right for what’s right

No one talks to her, she feels so alone
She’s in too much pain to survive on her own
The hurt she can’t handle overflows to a knife
She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life
Each day she goes on is a day that she’s brave,
Fighting the lie that giving up is the way,
Each moment of courage her own life she saves
When she throws the pills out a hero is made

Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what’s right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero
You could join the fight
For what’s right for what’s right for what’s right

No one talks to him about how he lives
He thinks that the choices he makes are just his
Doesn’t know he’s a leader with the way he behaves
And others will follow the choices he’s made
He lives on the edge; he’s old enough to decide
His brother who wants to be him is just nine
He can do what he wants because it’s his right
The choices he makes change a nine year-old’s life

Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what’s right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero
You could join the fight
For what’s right for what’s right for what’s right

Little Mikey D was in the one class
Who everyday got brutally harassed
This went on for years
'till he decided that never again
Would he shed another tear
So he walked through the door
Grabbed the 4.4 out of his father's dresser drawer
And said I can't take life no more
And like that life can be lost
But this ain't even about that
All of us just sat back
And watch it happen
Thinkin' it's not my responsibility
To solve a problem that isn’t even about me
This is our problem
This is just one of the daily scenarios
Which we choose to close our eyes
Instead of doing the right thing
If we make a choice
And be the voice
For those who won't speak up for themselves
How many lives would be saved, changed, and rearranged
Now it's our time to pick a side
So don't keep walking by
Not wanna intervene
'Cause you just wanna exist and never be seen
So let's wake up
Change the world
Our time is now

You could be a hero
Heroes do what’s right (Our time is now)
You could be a hero
You might save a life (Our time is now)
If you could be a hero, you could join the fight (Our time is now)
For what's right, for what's right

Mrf. No, this isn't new, I have posted it before, but... posting again. :: shrugs::

One down, three to go.

CS440 was today.

It was ok, I guess. Could have been worse, but it could also have been better. Maybe if I wasn't stupid and actually reviewed more of the homework problems. Notably the last one. Some of the conceptual stuff was a bit odd, and required some BSsing, but... the rest.. if I kept my formulas straight, they should be alright.

Grading has been rather harsh in that class though. So it might be like the midterm, where I thought I did well, but I still ended up being below average with something like a 65-ish%. :\ Should have sucked up to the TA a bit more. And offered chocolates. Maybe. ^^;;;

Now for math, tomorrow at 8 AM. Oh joy.

BigUpload.com

Ever since YouSendIt limits file sizes to 50 (or is it 100?), it's pretty much useless for me now.

So here's my review on BigUpload.com, which I'm trying right now.

Uploading a 170 MB file, 200 MB is their max limit.
A plus: They've got a progress bar that works in Safari. It's not pretty, but it works. There's also nice number-stats, and such. I'm uploading at a steady 200-300 KB/s. Don't know about download speeds yet.

From my previous post on online file dumps [here], files should stay online as long as it's downloaded periodically.

Looks like someone's started up a site promoting file dumping services:

Looks biased towards bigupload.com though. Hmmmmm.

Hm, their site is really badly designed. I'm having trouble getting to the registration page and their terms of service. Because, "Unfortunately, the number of Download Slots for your area are exhausted. Please Bookmark and try again later".

::twitch::

I'm not trying to download anything, silly, I'm trying to find out your terms of service. Links are also quite inconsistent - on some pages, terms of service brings me to /terms/, and some other ones try /terms.php. One even tries /tos.php, which brings up a page informing me that the terms have been moved to terms.php. -.-;;;

Download speeds are approx. 50-80KB/s :-\ suckage. At least uploads stay around 300 KB/s, which means I can dump an episode every 12.5 minutes.

Huh. Them other file dumping locations...

transferbigfiles.com doesn't work with safari. Or maybe it's the space in the file. ::shrugs:: Either way, it tells me I didn't select a file. Silly.

zUpload.com doesn't seem to work. I got script and MySQL errors

FileFactory didn't receive the file; it went to a file sending page and stayed at zero. The traffic monitor I have running didn't show any activity either.

Ok, filefactory works with firefox. Uploading at about 200KB/s.

Saikano Manga:

Oooh, nice, they're much faster than BigUpload. Approximate average downspeed is 400, which is, more or less, the wireless cap here.

Ok... iTunes...

Ok, if I don't get Google's summer of code thing with livejournal, I think I'll try to make a better MP3 player for MacOS X. iTunes annoys me, sometimes.

Stuff I wish I had:
-Playlists that worked in trees. As in, multi-level organization. (one playlist inside another)
-More fuzzy searching for files. For those of us who have so much music, most of it is on an external volume - if we move files, it should be able to hunt them down. Somehow. Hah.
-Active checking for files. If they don't exist, they don't exist. If they do, don't _forever_ mark them gone. Or at least implement a "rescan library for missing files" option or something.
-Adding ratings to a file should save it to the file in the comments or something, so if I decide to reimport my library, I keep my ratings.
-It should be an option to save data to the mp3 file itself, or to save it to the library. The former option is bad because it messes with the file, making it less compatible with file sharing hashing. The latter is annoying because you can't do a massive wipe and re-import. And you can't just save the data off to another smaller file and keep it by the mp3 file - that'd just be plain annoying for people who have massive amounts of music. No one wants, 30,000,000 1K files in addition to their mp3 files.
-Plugin support. For OGG, FLAC and other formats.
-Better searching/filtering options. What iTunes has is nice, but it's not powerful enough. We can't search comments, we can't filter by other stuff.
-Interface. While I consider this to be the most annoying things about some of the other MP3 players (audion's skins... oi~ some are just plain ugly, sorry.) the option to skin your interface is probably nice. And it'd be nice if you could chose whether you want it all broken up into separate windows like WinAmp, or if you want the single-window interface like iTunes.
-Web-based interface and music broadcasting? XD

It'd probably a really ambitious project, actually. Considering how I still haven't written any GUI-reliant applications for MacOS X. Or for any platform, for that matter.

Suggestions and ideas welcome.
