BumpTop 3D Desktop...

Via meiko. Get a livejournal, man. ;)

Hmmm, thoughts. I don't like it very much. It idea is cool, but you know, it would slow me down. Unless you can combine some nicer keyboard command based search/locate with that... And our current technology doesn't quite support it. Yes, there are tablet PCs, but using a pen to do this? Ehhhhh. Gonna be a bit awkward. A standalone tablet would be even worse.

Of course, I don't manage that many files on a daily basis; more art inclined people might find it more useful: imagine being able to play with images that way, and find the one you want at quick glance. No more naming of files~ just spread them out and find the image you want.

What I want is a desktop that fully supports touch-based window dragging. The prereqs of that, though, is either a big screen, or 3D sensitive space, so you can throw windows to the back, and pull them forwards, throw them off to the side, etc.

And hand gestures. Pointers wouldn't work well enough, being 2D... Imagine... conducting... combined with system manipulation... Of course, most people probably wouldn't need something that fancy; but coders, artists, system ops, etc. would probably benefit quite a bit. Gods, one can dream. =^_^=

Google: Free Today videos

Kinda spiffy. Felix the Cat, Mr Magoo, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Roger Ramjet...

And.. Something is haunting me O.o

That spoon is the second thing to just randomly fall while I'm around. O.o First was a large pile of pans. Granted, I didn't see how they were placed, but they were there at least for an hour, if not more. And the spoon as well. But the spoon wasn't badly placed. And I wasn't anywhere near the pans.

LJ news update...

LJ is for . . .

There seems to be some confusion circulating among many users, so we wanted to take a moment to try to clear some things up.

Another point of confusion came from some wording on the Six Apart website, which states that "LiveJournal has grown to be an amazing community of fiercely independent bloggers, primarily teenagers and twenty-somethings." We know the first part is true, but some people are questioning the second part. Though a few different sources confirm that the largest group of LJ users falls into the ages of around 18-24, a lot of LJ users feel that description just doesn't describe LJ's diverse community. We want you to know that we've heard your concerns, and now we're challenging you to help us make our statistics more accurate. The way you can do this is by following this meme that you might have already seen:
Go to the profile page and specify your full date of birth, including your year of birth. If you don't want everyone to see how old you are, make sure the box that says "show your birthday to other users" is unchecked. The important thing is to get yourself into the database. Then tell your friends about it, and ask them to do it too.

::wonders if he had anything to do with this...::

Oi, yoi... there's mad drama there. =.=;; Most of the crap seems to be rotating around the whole, "LJ is turning into MySpace, OMG! I'm going to leave, yea hear me?"

My question right now ('cause I have only half-heartedly skimmed through the drama, and really don't wanna read 1500+ comments) is, where in the WORLD are people getting the idea that LJ is going to turn into MySpace?

What is it? The ads? The announced "new system that'll make style easier"? I'm assuming it's not the majority age group thing, 'cause that'd just be a stupid assumption.

The new system... eh, I'll go over it at some point. It's not what I had originally expected, and it turns the difficulty "dial" (to quote Brad) waaaaay down to easy. Past S1, even. But that should make it so LJ would turn into MySpace. Besides, people aren't seeing the entire monkeysphereishness! I think I can safely say that most livejournal users don't have more than 300 friends, unless their a crazy friend collector. And no one is going to make other people visit ugly journals... So what if a crowd of idiots gather? There's always going to be a crowd of idiots, no matter where you go.

As for the ads... eh, I can't say much about those. I dislike them, but hey, if it brings in money, and guarantees that livejournal will stay alive, so be it. I've forked over a decent chunk for my permanent account, so I don't see the ads. So I honestly don't care all that much, as long as I continue not to see them.

There's a little less than two months before I go back to school again.

And it's been a little more than a month since summer vacation started.

And I haven't accomplished much.

(interpret as you will. Bad time, Bad me, Bad things-not-accomplished-by-themselves-yet-things.)
