Random quote from Catherine S.

“You may not be his first, his last, or his only. Most likely, he’s loved before and he will love again. But if he loves you now, what else matters? He’s not perfect and neither are you. The two of you will never be perfect. But if he makes you laugh, at least once makes you think twice, and admits to being human, and making mistakes…hold onto him, and give him all you’ve got. He’s not going to quote poetry, and he’s not going to be thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him, a part that he knows you can break. Don’t hurt him, don’t try to change him, don’t expect too much from him. Smile when he makes you happy, cry when he makes you sad, and miss him when he’s not there.”

I suppose someone should come up with a version for guys?
You may not be her first, her last, or her only. Most likely, she's loved before, and she'll love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She's not perfect and neither are you. The two of you will never be perfect. But if she makes you laugh, at least once makes you think twice, and admits to being human, and making mistakes... hold onto her, and give her all you've got. She's not going to quote poetry, and she's not going to be thinking about you every moment, but she will give you a part of her, a part that she knows you can break. Don't hurt her, don't try to change her, don't expect too much from her. Smile when she makes you happy, cry when she makes you sad, and miss her when she's not there.

"When Pigs Fly: The Death of Oink..."

http://www.demonbaby.com/blog/2007/10/when-pigs-fly-death-of-oink-birth-of.html

For quite a long time I've been intending to post some sort of commentary on the music industry - piracy, distribution, morality, those types of things. I've thought about it many times, but never gone through with it, because the issue is such a broad, messy one - such a difficult thing to address fairly and compactly. I knew it would result in a rambly, unfocused commentary, and my exact opinion has teetered back and forth quite a bit over the years anyway. But on Monday, when I woke up to the news that Oink, the world famous torrent site and mecca for music-lovers everywhere, had been shut down by international police and various anti-piracy groups, I knew it was finally time to try and organize my thoughts on this huge, sticky, important issue.

A very, very well written piece. Then again, I'm biased, of course.

Another Leopard complaint...

It's very nice how there's to-do lists and notes in Mail now.

And while I can drag events into my to-do list, they don't sync there either...

And trying to change the alarm for a to-do item in Mail makes the alarm editing box fucking suddenly vanish. Like, as soon as you press a key. And changes don't always stick, with leads to some spazzing confusion on my part. Like.. "GAAH, STOP VANISHING!!!!!"

And I'd like to be able to see the actual alarm time.

And iCal no longer has the roll-out side info bar. Now it's... ... you have to double click the event in order to get event information. Then I have to click an edit button to MAKE CHANGES. Sure, it's prettier, but WHY, Apple, WHY? Why can't I have a permanent, floating "Event inspector" or something like that? It takes about 15 seconds extra, per event I have to edit.

CACert/x.509 cert note-to-self

Private key is stored in your browser, you fool. So if you migrate systems and fail to migrate those (I don't even know where they're stored for Safari...), you won't be able to reinstall your certificates, no matter how many times you download the certificates from CACert.

I'm smarter now though, certificates were made using firefox, and have been _backed up_ to a file. (keys encrypted with a good password, of course.)

...I should make sure I have backups of private keys for my servers. Ohshit...? -.-;;;
