"Most of our teens want their parents to make it difficult for them to engage in risky behavior, although they will never admit to it at this age."

*blinks* oh? huh... ok...

ooh, and I think I made it to "the first part of the competition". What competition? The National Merit Scholarships, I think... ::has a little yellow piece of paper saying, "...come to Career Center during lunch on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 to pick up your college reporting service form for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation..."

weirdness.

Naja . . . I suppose it's true that teenagers need a lot more guidance and safety than they pretend . . . but, well, I'd like to have a curfew later than 10 . . .
Our guidance counselor is less than tactful. He came into our physics class and announced that THREE PEOPLE in THIS CLASS had made it to the first round. :-( It pets his ego (ego?now, is that really the right word?) to bask in his students' "glory."

Well, sometimes I used to use my parents as an excuse, like "my parents won't let me do that" when I didn't want to do something. But then that just makes you sound kinda pathetic, which is why I stopped.

You can't win. :-D
